It has now been a year since we lost Andrew. When
a horrible event happens we humans not only remember the date, but we
also take a mental snapshot of the way things look, feel, and for some
even smell at that moment. This time of the year the trees and flowers
are exploding with life and the start of summer is in the air. I just
smell the spring air and memories of last year come flooding in. No
words exist to express the pain of losing your son. Not only losing my
son, but my best friend. He was the most unique person that I ever met,
a true force of nature. I try to feel as if all of this new green spring
life just absorbed him, and he is with us all now as any true force of
nature is, for Andrew was not a tame lion.
I am and will always be most proud to be his father.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum. It has been
wonderful to share in others’ memories of Andrew. Please keep it going;
let’s keep his memory strong.
Others have shared lyrics from songs they feel have helped them or
described Andrew. Here’s one from me.
From the movie "Shrek" -
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty
in the moonlight
overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne,
she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah |
